Imagination Library of Delaware County

Imagination Library of Delaware County is the result of the partnering of the Delaware County Historical Society with The Dollywood Foundation to bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Delaware County, Iowa. Imagination Library is an early childhood educational program available to children ages birth to five years who are residents of Delaware County. Each month age-appropriate, high-quality books are specially selected and delivered to children registered for the program. All books are personalized with the child’s name and mailed directly to the child’s home, at no cost to families.The program encourages an early love of reading, increases early literacy skills, and contributes to kindergarten readiness. Reading at grade level is a key predictor of school success and high school graduation, and this program will help get children off to a bright start. Imagination Library helps to build children an at home library of their own and encourages increased interaction with parents and other caregivers around books and reading. All books within the program are selected each year by the Blue Ribbon Book Selection Committee, a specially selected panel of early childhood literacy experts.
