The Delaware County Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, collecting, researching, and interpreting historical information and items. This society was created as a way to help future generations understand their heritage and to preserve architecture and history of the College.
The Museum is the site of Lenox College, The college was inducted into the National Registry of Historic Places in 1974. The Museum consists of four of the original campus buildings including, main hall, the library, girls dormitory, and the gymnasium. The Museum is the site of Lenox College, The college was inducted into the National Registry of Historic Places in 1974. The Museum consists of four of the original campus buildings including, main hall, the library, girls dormitory, and the gymnasium. Other buildings surrounding the campus include, the church, one room school, train depot & train car and two agricultural buildings. Each one of the buildings hosts multiple exhibits.
Delaware County Historical Society has partnered with the Dollywood Foundation to bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to families of Delaware County. The program provides free books to children in Delaware County from birth to age 5.

The Delaware County Historical Society's mission is to preserve the Museum complex and local history for future generations, as well as, providing engaging events and educational programs. DCHS is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization, it receives all of it's funding from donations and grants and is operated by a board of volunteer directors. Operations and success is a direct result of community involvement. The Museum has had the great fortune to have the support of many talented and dedicated volunteers, generous local business, and families. The Museum is located in the South East corner of Delaware County in the town of Hopkinton. The campus is on the Delaware Crossing Scenic Byway a route passing through thriving Amish communities and the beautiful Maquoketa River & Lake Delhi areas. The Museum is located in the South East corner of Delaware County in the town of Hopkinton. The campus is on the Delaware Crossing Scenic Byway a route passing through thriving Amish communities and the beautiful Maquoketa River & Lake Delhi areas. The drive brings you north towards the county seat, Manchester. The campus is also close to the borders of Jones and Dubuque counties, north of Monticello, south of Dyersville. The area provides many points of interest, opportunities to explore nature, shop, and dine.
Please, be aware while driving in this area you will be sharing the road with horse drawn carriages, especially, on the Delaware Crossing Scenic Byway. You may be required to slow down or stop abruptly & give space while passing. Allot yourself more travel time during rains, snow and twilight hours, when visibility is low.
